Special sappers mined departure routes and destroyed strategically important objects - bridges, mines, factories. Often, work was carried out in the territory occupied by the enemy, one had to join the battle with the Nazis. In the summer of the year, the commander of the engineering company Rudnev performed a special task on mining the roads Maykop - Tuapse, Novorossiysk - Tuapse.

In December, he participated in the performance of a special assignment on Lazarevsky, and then on the Shabanovsky passes of the Transcaucasian Front. On the territory of Hungary, he participated in the raid on the rear of the enemy with the Cossacks of the horse-mechanized group of General Gorshkov in the Debrezenal operation.

For the repeated performing of the feats of life when crossing the Dnieper River, Comrade Rudnev was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in the year of the Nizhny Novgorod Polytechnic College, the name of Alexei Rudnev, a graduate of our educational institution.

By the anniversary of Victory, the college will install a memorial plaque on the building, in this way the feat of this brave person.
