The images of the ancient land, which struck his imagination in childhood, attracted Shchipachev with an inexplicable force.
Friendship with archaeologists allowed him to enrich his knowledge. The Principality of the Tsemutarakan, which arose on the lands of the Bosporus kingdom, has become the subject of study. It was here, near the walls of Fanagoria, that a grandiose picture of the historical connection of times, the continuity of cultures, a sense of continuity of life, opened to the artist. The cycle of the works “Ancient land of Russia” arose, united by the theme of the past and real legendary Colchis, sung by Orpheus, in which the artist’s talent was revealed.

How many generations you fed, you fed your children with joy and love, caressed and punished them. How many you have covered forever. And again you feed the generations, weaving with milk of the crystal rivers that run through the vowels of your earth's earth.
A cold wind sorting out my gray hair, and even one fallen picked up an Ivolga bird on the fly to weave it warm into his nest. Yes, and the tree cracked, once planted by me, tends to the ground, which is nourished. I was not tired of looking at your sky, winter, starry. I want to listen to the winds of complaints, I want to see the autumn, falling forest, and whisper with its rustle.
In the spring, surprise the liliac flower, suffocate the spicy smell of bird cherry. Run in a thunderstorm with a mowing rod and bury your head in a beveled porridge. And when my ashes are insensitive in my native land, let his last dust dust in the palm of the mighty Lemec suddenly linger, heated in the cobblestone in the sun, and then between the autumn stubble, ”the art of the artist Libya Stepanovich Shchipachev is a significant phenomenon in Soviet painting.
It sings the triumph of reason and light, the beauty of life, the warmth of human feeling.
