Since the year, Vladimir waged a war with the troops of Oleg Svyatoslavovich, who entered into an alliance with the Polovtsy, and as a result was forced to give in to Chernigov. After that, Monomakh settled in the Principality of Pereyaslav. In the year, he united with his brother Svyatopolk. Together, they were able to expel Oleg from Chernigov, but the latter managed to capture Murom, Rostov and Suzdal, killing the son of Vladimir Monomakh - Izyaslav.
In the year, Prince Svyatopolk died, and Kyiv called on Vladimir Monomakh. Having become the Kyiv prince, in order to reassure the popular uprising, he issued several orders that facilitate the position of the lower layers of the population. The undeniable merit of Vladimir Monomakh was that he managed to become the inspirer and head of joint campaigns of the Russian princes against the Polovtsy.
It was a time of strengthening of Kievan Rus: two thirds of the territory were ruled by Prince Vladimir himself and his sons, and their authority was held on military successes in battles with the Polovtsy. Vladimir Monomakh himself was not only a skilled military leader, but also a thinker. To our time, three works belonging to the pen of the prince have been preserved: “The teaching of Vladimir Monomakh”, the story “On the Paths and Folders” and the letter to Oleg Svyatoslavovich.
In addition, it was on behalf of Vladimir Vsevolodovich that Monk Nestor created the second edition of the Tale of Bygone Years. Prince Vladimir died on May 19 near Pereyaslavl, was buried in the Sofia Cathedral of Kyiv near his father, leaving the descendants not only of the strong principality and literary works, but also the relic, which for the long centuries remained a symbol of the Russian monarchy - the hat of Monomakh.
