Therefore, he went to work as a craftsman. First by an apprentice, then a decorator and a sculptor. In parallel, he took lessons from the famous master Antoine Bari Antoine -louis Barye, leaving no dream of high art. He abandoned the sculpture and went to religion, entering the Pierre Aimar Pierre Julien Eymard community, but the abbot persuaded the young man to return to his favorite business.

Following the advice of the monk, Roden plunged into the craft with his head. Most of the works of that time were performed anonymously, but it is known that Auguste Roden designed the facade of the Gelen Theater and Foya Gaite.

In the same years, he made a bronze bust of the rector Aimar, who is still stored in the Musee Rodin Museum. The bust of the abbot Aimar, and then in the life of the loving Rodin, there was a change - he met Rosa Borea. Swede Borea remained with Auguste until the end of her days, despite numerous love affairs, including Camilla Chatel of the sculptor on the side.

And he was one of the first players of the master, posing for his early busts “Mignon” and “Girl in a hat with flowers”. Family income increased, which allowed the sculptor to go to Italy to get acquainted with the art of the Renaissance. Passing through Reims, he forever and ardently fell in love with Gothic architecture. The model was a strong Belgian soldier with a beautiful and developed muscles.

Art historians suggest that the “dying slave” of the great Michelangelo inspired him to create a sculpture. The work entailed the scandal of critics did not believe in Rodin’s skill, suggesting that he introduced the public not a ready -made sculpture, but a cast from his body. And yet, the “bronze age”, also called the “defeated”, brought recognition.

Roden increasingly sets his work at exhibitions, takes on complex and interesting orders, takes part in competitions. And he always does this with special insolence and courage, experimenting with form and filling.
