Morois is a brief biography

Shortly before his death, Morua wrote a book about his hometown - Paris. He wrote with brilliance, poetically, in love. Talking about Paris, Morois stops mainly on historical and literary facts and pays less attention to the architectural and artistic features of the monuments. Therefore, the publishing house decided to accompany the writer's text with appropriate detailed comments.

Hence a slightly different composition of the book than in other editions of this series. Annotation of the publishing house The book "Memoirs", p. Sharing with the reader the richest life experience, the author introduces it to outstanding people of the era. The book has been written for twenty years, the last point of Morois put the last point two weeks before his death.

His innermost desire was that these memories would be read in Russia - a country to which he always had special love. Three more decades passed before the desire of the master came true. I was naturally connected with the great events of my time, but I tried to reproduce them as I saw and felt, and not as they are now drawn to me in the light of past years. I was guided by this rule when I wrote biographies; I could not do otherwise in an autobiography.

For example, and this is quite obvious, in the New York of the years, I very poorly imagined what happened then in France.

Morois is a brief biography

I did not receive any news from the occupied zone: letters written in fear of censorship and distorting facts came from the so -called “free zone”. I had to make decisions in the dark; I did this with a passionate desire to act in the best way in the interests of France. I hope I often succeeded; My fellow citizens, following other roads, pursued the same goal.

I did not consider it possible to keep silent about the attacks that I was subjected to more than once. Unjust, often simply meaningless, they nevertheless make up part of the history of my life. On the other hand, I allowed myself to bring several flattering letters and statements to me. I apologize to me: it's not about vanity. Praise always surprises me. But lowering them would completely mean distorting the prospect.

In addition, at one time they enjoyed me: it is useful for each person sometimes to warm up in the rays of someone else's worship, especially such a conscientious and inclined to doubt himself as I am. Although I knew, sometimes quite closely, many great people of their time, in this book you can find only some of the conversations with them. Those that I recorded were published in my other work under the name "only facts." It can be an inquisitive and devoted reader to serve as an addition to these “memoirs”.

And now, with God! As Montain said, this is an honest book; Yes, read it with confidence. Andre Morua September 20, Morua, is a famous French writer. Among his works are psychological novels and stories, fantastic novels and travel essays, biographies of great people and literary portraits. The latter and make up a real collection. Everything written by Morois is united by faith in a person, in the power and beneficial effects of a creative person.

I would like to hope that my choice will coincide with yours. Not all great works will be sorted out here, but those that I chose seem to me great in some ways. I was pleasantly surprised when, having placed these essays in a chronological order, I saw that they correspond to the highest peaks of the literary ridge. I tried to explain what delights me in the classics, you can love them for other reasons.

Regardless of whether our opinions coincide or not, you will be transferred to the healing atmosphere of the mountains for several hours. And this is always useful. From author 5 to the reader.
