Thanks to Masherov, the memory of the Soviet heroes who fought for their native land was immortalized: the Khatyn memorial was erected, the “Breakthrough” monument was built.

While working on the mound of Glory near Minsk, Peter Mironovich put forward a prerequisite - the monument should be an order of magnitude higher than the memorial near Waterloo. He really loved people and considered them the greatest wealth of the state. Despite the high position, the politician remained a simple, friendly and responsive person.

Pyotr Mironovich was an activist all his life, tried at all costs to achieve their goals. For the development of his native land, he used personal influence and fundamental exactingness, not forgetting to encourage subordinates with a kind word. In his free time, the party was engaged in reading, going to the bathhouse, skiing and watching sports programs. On this day, the head of the head was not accompanied by the traffic police crew, as the instructions demanded, but the usual Volga with a loudspeaker.

A MAZ truck moved along the oncoming lane, which was ordered to stop. When the heavy truck began braking, the dump truck with potatoes tried to overtake it. The driver of the advanced Volga appreciated the danger and gave the gas, having managed to slip through the obstacle rushing to the meeting. The driver of the "Seagulls" could not repeat the maneuver, and an inevitable collision occurred at a speed of about a kilometer per hour.

Everyone who rode in the limousine died. According to eyewitnesses, the seagull salon was completely filled with potatoes from a dump truck.Immediately after the tragedy, an investigation began, which was conducted by the Prosecutor General of the USSR together with the State Security Committee. The intentional nature of the accident was excluded already at the first stage of the investigation, and the driver of the truck with potatoes was called guilty of what happened.

Nikolai Pustovit, the same driver of the dump truck, was convicted of 15 years for violating the rules of the BDD, which resulted in the death of two or more people. In reality, the man served about five years, having been released in amnesty in the year. The grave of Peter Masherov seemed to be conducted, the guilty are determined and punished. However, the public for a long time extended rumors that the death of the leader of the Belarusian Communist Party was not accidental.

Moreover, at that time, Masherov was the main candidate for the post of chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union. Peter Mironovich is buried in the eastern cemetery of the Belarusian capital. At the farewell ceremony were attended by several thousand citizens, relatives and relatives of the deceased. But there were few representatives from the Communist Party: only the secretary of the Central Committee Mikhail Zimyanin and the first secretary of the Lithuanian branch of the Pyatrats Grishkyaviyus party arrived.

The perpetuation of memory of Masherov at a high post was worthy of appreciated. He became the owner of the seven orders of Lenin and other honorary awards, including foreign states. The people keep the memory of honest politics, who did so much for their native land. In honor of it, several streets are named in different cities, educational institutions, industrial enterprises and even a river ship.

In the Belarusian city of Vitebsk, a bronze bust of the party member was erected, and in the village of Rossons opened a memorial hall dedicated to his life. In gratitude for the restoration of Brest, the inhabitants named his central avenue in the name of Masherov. Monuments to Peter Masherov in the year held events dedicated to the lady of the birth of Peter Mironovich. Residents and guests of Minsk were able to see the temporary exposition "Peter Masherov: his heart was beating for people." At the exhibition, the stages of the life of the Belarusian hero were presented: from his birth, partisan activity, to party work.

Masherov’s dramatic life and combat path appears before the eyes of visitors in the form of numerous documents, photographs, personal things and memories of his contemporaries. For the first time, the public got the opportunity to see a portrait of a politician written by the Belarusian artist Mikhail Savitsky. For many years, the picture was inaccessible to a wide audience - it was carefully kept by the Peter's family.

In addition, another unique exhibit was put up at the exposition - a portrait of a leader embroidered with Sennen workers. He received this gift from grateful compatriots to his summer. From that anniversary there were many interesting pictures, where the birthday person is depicted with the most prominent people of the republic: Maxim tank, Nikolai Eremenko, Petrusman Brovka, Ivan Shamyakin.
